The Big Migrations

Since the year BC 1122, China had gone through turbulent years of civil wars, international wars, chaos, unrest, colonisation, revolutions.......Like many others Chinese, the Phoons began moving out of Weng Yeong areas heading towards the southern part of China. They first landed in Hong Chou and some of them moved on to Kong Sai, Woo Nam, Kwong Dong, Foo Chien, Taiwan and various countries of South East Asia.

Our Phoon ancestor was one of those settled down in Kwong Dong during the big migrations periods. During Ming Dynasty in the year of Keng Thai Third Year, our ancestors moved from Choong Hop district of Kwong Dong to the Lai Chuen village of Soon Tuck district of Kwong Dong province. Kwong Dong is now known as Guang Chou.
